Girls Track Makes History

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD TEAM PLACES HIGHEST AT DISTRICTS IN SCHOOL HISTORY

Big congratulations to the Track and Field team for their performance at last Friday night’s District Meet. The girls placed 3rd out of 18 teams. The 3rd place finish is the best in school history at the District Meet. Several athletes will be moving on the to the Regional Meet in Dayton this week.

Natalie Kiefer ran a new personal best in the 800 meter run on her way to winning the District Championship.

Lylla Kovacs not only shattered the school record in the 300 meter hurdles, but she became the first athlete in school history to qualify to Regionals in 4 events: the long jump, both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, and the 4×400 meter relay.

McKenzie Bien and Gracelynn Durkin both qualified in the discus, and Sam Pettinger made it through in the pole vault.

Finally, the 4×400 meter relay of Carmen Kugler, Natalie Kiefer, Lylla Kovacs, and Dannon Lotz ran the 2nd fastest time in school history and will also run next week.

For the boys, Josh Basich was District Champion in the shot put and Jayden Thompson was District Champion in the 800 meter run. Jayden sits just a few tenths of a second off the school record.

Other district placers for the boys were Vincent Moses in the shot put, RJ Toepfer in the discus, and the 4×400 meter relay of Jayden Thompson, Cooper Ives, Mason Richardson, and Jackson Metcalf.
